Wage garnishment

Legal procedure allowing creditor with a judgment to divert some portion of the judgment debtor’s wages to satisfy its debt.California allows wage garnishment, though not all states do. The amount that a creditor can garnish is capped by state law.

The IRS can garnish wages and divert all but a minimum amount left for the employee.
